Montreal Gazette, May 6, 1983, transcribed by pwrwindows

Le Studio in Morin Heights lost one of its valued members this week when Robbie Whelan was killed in a car accident on his way to work.

Whelan, 31, had been an assistant recording engineer at Le Studio, Canada's flagship, big-name recording facility, for five years and was working on a new album with the rock group Asia at time of his death. He leaves his wife Carla.

"He will be much missed here" Le Studio manager Yael Brandeis said, adding that Whelan had been close to many of the artists who have recorded at Le Studio over the years, especially Rush and April Wine.

Whelan also worked on albums with the Police, Robert Charlebois, Bryan Adams, Rainbow and Fist, among others.

His funeral will be held at Trinity Anglican Church in Morin Heights tomorrow at 2 p.m.
