Rush Takes To Web To Talk About Live Album

MTV News, November 9, 1998

Theoretical-minded rockers Rush will take to the Internet on November 15 at 7:30 p.m. EST for a special online chat to help promote its new triple-CD live album, "Different Stages," which arrives in stores tomorrow.

Rush frontman Geddy Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson will be webcasting from Atlantic Records' new DigitalArena Studio in New York City, which will be carried live at www.atlantic-records.com.

Rush will talk about the band's 25-year career and the new live album, whose first two discs capture performances from Rush's 1997 tour of America in support of its last studio effort, 1996's "Test for Echo." Disc one is also a CD-ROM that includes a software program that matches the graphic artwork of Japanese sculptor Hisashi Hoda with the music of Rush.

The third disc is taken from a 1978 performance from the Hammersmith Odeon in London that was thought long-lost until Lee recently discovered the concert recordings in his basement.

"I remember just putting those tapes in my road case," Lee said, "and taking them home and saying, 'Well, they'll never see the light of day.'"

Rush currently doesn't have any plans to tour behind the live record, but we'll keep you posted.
